School Swim Academy

Welcome to the Your Trust School Swimming Academy provided to you in partnership with the Swimming Teachers Association (STA).

The STA Award Scheme utilised during the Your Trust School Swimming Academy delivers the Department for Education requirements for Key Stage 2 Swimming:

• Swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance
  of at least 25 metres
• Use a range of strokes effectively [for example, front crawl,
  backstroke and breaststroke]
• Perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations

Every child attending the Your Trust School Swimming Academy will be taught fun but challenging lessons which work through the appropriate STA School Swimming Awards for their ability level.

Swimming will be a key player in providing mental resilience, mental wellbeing and improved physical fitness to pupils during the post COVID-19 recovery period.

Your Trust is working in partnership with schools to give every child in the borough the opportunity to gain the skills and knowledge required to perform appropriate self-rescue in an aquatic emergency.

We are working flexibly with schools to provide catch-up lessons for those pupils who have missed out during previous academic years. We are anticipating a high demand for water space and therefore request that schools are understanding when lesson times are allocated as they may not be on the preferred day or time.

Your Trust is committed to providing safe, stimulating, progressive, quality swimming lessons which allow children to reach their full potential, while in turn striving to meet the Department for Education requirements for swimming and ensure all pupils have the confidence to continue to access swimming and aquatics after their school swimming lesson programme is complete.
