Four Points by George Meyrick
Todmorden-based artist George Meyrick is currently showing a single work called Four Points at Touchstones to coincide with his current exhibition (Wedge) at Studio 2 in Todmorden and ahead of a solo show with Touchstones in 2020.
Born in London, George Meyrick studied art at St Martin’s, Brighton and Chelsea and has exhibited his work throughout the UK and abroad. He uses simple geometric forms to create an uncertain visual experience where shapes can be read as linear, planar or solid. For example, in Four Points, elements may appear as though they exist in one plane but feel to belong in another. It has no ‘right side up’ and the orientation will be changed during its time on display, further extending the possible reading of the shapes.
Four Points will be displayed at Touchstones until December 2019. Wedge at Studio 2 is on until the 27 July 2019. Studio 2 is based at Robinwood Mill, Burnley Road, Todmorden, OL14 8JA.
