Middleton Arena Gym Refurbishment

We’re delighted to confirm that the gym at Middleton Arena will undergo a gym refurbishment bringing you a range of new equipment, a new layout and redecoration.

As a charity, we re-invest in the borough to support the local community to live active, happy and healthy lives and this £250,000 investment into the gym will bring the latest equipment suitable for all levels of fitness.

Alongside new cardio equipment (treadmills, rowing machines, bikes and cross-trainers) and the introduction of a new Stepper, HIIT Stairmaster Upper Body Ergonometer and Watt Bikes, the refurbished gym will include new free weights, strength and conditioning and functional training kit including new weights rig, punch bag and curved treadmill.

Temporary changes to the gym during the refurbishment

Whilst the works are carried out, the main gym will be temporarily moved to the Sports Hall to enable you to carry on your fitness workouts with minimal disruption.

Monday 14 October

The main gym will be closed on this day to allow the team to move gym equipment into the Sports Hall to create a temporary gym.
If you wish to use the gym on this day, your membership enables use of the gym at Heywood Sports Village, Littleborough Sports Centre and Rochdale Leisure Centre.

To allow larger pieces of equipment to be relocated to the Sports Hall, access is required through the Group Exercise Studio, so the morning Group Exercise Classes on this day will not take place.

There are no changes to the Swimming timetable.

Tuesday 15 – Wednesday 23 October

Refurbishment works take place in the main gym. During this time, a temporary gym will be housed in the Sports Hall so you can continue to exercise with minimal disruption.

Sunday 20 October

The temporary gym in the Sports Hall will be closed today. If you wish to use the gym on this day, your membership enables use of the gym at Heywood Sports Village, Littleborough Sports Centre and Rochdale Leisure Centre.

Tuesday 22 October

As we start to move larger pieces of equipment back into the main gym, access is required through the Group Exercise Studio. There will be no Group Exercise Classes available on this day.
Alternative Group Exercise Classes are available at Heywood Sports Village, Littleborough Sports Centre and Rochdale Leisure Centre.

Thursday 24 October

The temporary gym in the Sports Hall will be closed today to allow the team to move equipment back into the main gym alongside the new equipment. Whilst equipment is installed, the main gym will also be closed.
If you wish to use the gym on this day, your membership enables use of the gym at Heywood Sports Village, Littleborough Sports Centre and Rochdale Leisure Centre.

There are no changes to the Swimming and Group Exercise timetables.

Friday 25 October

Your new refurbished gym opens.
