Sunday 8 and Sunday 15 September

Join us this September for a series of exciting events in collaboration with the Edgar Wood Society at their historic church in Middleton, as part of the Heritage Open Days. This event will be particularly special, as the community group we’ve been working with will have the opportunity to showcase their own artwork inspired by their personal experiences of viewing and creating art.
Our Aloe Vera’s group are working with us, in partnership with Tate and National Galleries Scotland, to create a unique exhibition. They are selecting work from the Borough’s collection and from ARTIST ROOMS, a collection of modern and contemporary art jointly owned by Tate and National Galleries of Scotland, as part of their curation of one of our re-opening exhibitions (more details to be announced soon).
This is a fantastic opportunity to see artworks created by the Aloe Veras, explore the vibrant cultural work happening in Middleton and get excited about the upcoming ARTIST ROOMS x Touchstones exhibition.
From Saturday 7 – Sunday 15 September, we’ll be showcasing:
- An exhibition of work by the renowned building designer Edgar Wood and his contemporaries.
- Tell Your Own Story… – a collection of new artworks by Middleton art group The Aloe Veras.
- Artwork by local artist Steve Whitworth.
On Wednesday 11 September, dive into Touchstones’ Local Studies collection, celebrating the Arts & Crafts movement.
Then, on Saturday 14 September, don’t miss Touchstones’ Collections on Tour, featuring the Mini Museum and a selection of paintings from the collection.
These events are a unique opportunity to connect with the rich artistic heritage of Middleton and celebrate the community’s creative spirit!
